Oil, balm, cream?

What are the specifics of each and when to use them?

Oils - if vegetable and unprocessed - are made up of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Better known under the names of omega 3, 6 or 9, these fatty acids have virtues 100% active and beneficial for the skin. One of their benefits is in particular to improve the quality of the intercellular cement of the epidermis, thereby limiting skin dehydration.

Balms do not contain water. Blends of vegetable oils and butters (shea butter for example), the balms will nourish in depth (omega 6 and omega 9) and offer absolute protection so that the skin regains soothing and comfort. They are very suitable for nourishing extra-dry skin, and restoring the damaged skin barrier.

Creams are composed of an aqueous phase and an oily phase to form an emulsion. The benefit of a cream is therefore mainly moisturizing and providing water to the skin.
